We all need tequila to know that we are at least on the same level as other people. Some of us are more sophisticated than others, and this is okay. In fact, it’s a lot more fun to be with those that are more sophisticated and to be around people that are more sophisticated than you are. I’m not against this at all. I just don’t like the idea of others being more sophisticated than me.
That’s a good idea. We can all learn something from each other. But I think it’s a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy as well. The fact that you can be more sophisticated and more intelligent can only be a good thing. If you’re ever on a boat that’s going to a really fancy place and are going to have a really good time then it’s probably a good thing.
I think Im going to move out of my comfort zone by moving to Mexico City. Maybe I’ll start a bar. Or just a hotel… I dont know. But its the thought that counts.
I know I’m rambling. But I want to be more than a comedian. I want to write a book. I want to make movies. I want to write a TV show. I want to make videos. I want to make a video game. And I want to make a commercial. I want to make music. I want to make a game. I want to make a comic. I want to make a fashion blog. I want to make an art exhibit.
The game industry has always been about entertainment and it’s one of those things that’s where it’s at, but it’s not the only thing. People are talking about the entertainment industry in general, but it has always been about entertainment. So the word entertainment has always been a big part of the business.
No you don’t. Entertainment is just the buzzword for what you usually want to have happen in your life. When I was a kid I always wanted to be a rock star. I wanted to be on TV. I wanted to be a movie star. I wanted to be an actor. I wanted to be a lawyer. I wanted to be a musician. I wanted to be a world beater. I wanted to be a great person in my life.
Yeah, that was the thing. I never wanted to just be a person, I wanted to be great in my life, and I wanted to be good in my business. So I never could say anything like, “Oh, I’m going to be an actor and an entrepreneur.” That would have been a joke. I wanted to be a great person.
It’s not only the fact that you can be great in your business and your life that makes you a great person. It’s also the fact that you can say no. You can say no to people, to things, to situations, and to people, because you already know that you’re going to make something of yourself, but you also know you don’t wanna do it. Even worse, you know you’ll regret saying no, so you can’t even say no to yourself.
One thing that I found really interesting about my conversation with Mike was that he used to play soccer. He still does, but has a reputation for being a guy who lets the team win. He used to be a great guy and he still is, but he was just so afraid of losing to the team that he wouldnt take a minute to actually watch the game. I think that is really a trait that makes a person great at something.
The other day I talked to the CEO of a startup. He was talking about how he thought he could make money off these people, and he had a very clear plan. He thought, “if my team wins, I’ll do the same.” Then he said, “if they lose, I’ll take a month to watch the game.” He was right.
